Suffolk County Community College is one of four New York colleges that recently received federal grant money to help them better serve low-income scholarly persons.
The US Government Department of Education denoted more than $18 million in grants to 48 colleges throughout the country, to be used for a number of designs, including faculty ontogeny, showing an endowment and ameliorating academic programs.
Along with SCCC, Medaille College, SUNY Farmingdale and SUNY Rockland were awarded grants rating from $397,512 to $400,000. SCCC will receive $399,470 from the Agency of Postsecondary Education's "Strengthening Institutions" program.
"As portion of the United States Education Department's 'Strengthening Institutions' computer program, these three SUNY schools will have the opportunity to use these well-deserved investment companies for faculty-development, basing an endowment fund or bettering academic programs, all for the students that need it most," said Johann Duncan-Poitier, SUNY's chancellor's deputy for the education protease inhibitor.
